Carey officially opens the newly refurbished Coolmine Therapeutic Community premises

Pat Carey T.D., Minister for Community, Equality and Gaeltacht Affairs officially opened the newly refurbished Coolmine Therapeutic Community premises at 19 Lord Edward Street.

Speaking during his visit Minister Carey said:

“It is vital that Coolmine Therapeutic Community has safe and secure premises from which to conduct their services and engage in the most productive way with problem drug users. I think all here today will agree that this building now provides a suitable setting for the work being undertaken”.

The Minister continued; “I acknowledge the real efforts that Coolmine continue to make to provide comprehensive services through out-reach and drop-in facilities, right through to residential services and aftercare.  Coolmine shows an openness to change, to partnerships and to collaboration with other service providers and agencies, in order to present the most appropriate opportunities to your clients.   Such a process of “continuum of care” is a key element that has to be put in place if the rehabilitation goals of the National Drugs Strategy are to be achieved.”

“I wish every success to those who work in the newly refurbished premises and across Coolmine Therapeutic Community and, finally, I take this opportunity to wish every success and happiness to those who cross the threshold in search of a better way of life.”
