South Eastern Area publishes data co-ordination overview of drug misuse for 2007

The report comprises three sections: recent developments, treatment services, education and prevention, and supply and control.

The section on treatment services analyses data collected from statutory and voluntary drug and alcohol treatment agencies, acute general hospitals and psychiatric hospitals in the HSE South Eastern Area. The data from the drug and alcohol treatment services are returned to the National Drug Treatment Reporting System in the Health Research Board.

The total number of contacts with treatment services in 2007 was 2,951, an increase of 290 cases on the 2006 figure. Contacts with treatment services include clients were assessed and/or treated, concerned persons who attended the H.S.E. services and Cornmarket Project Wexford,clients treated for other problems by H.S.E. services and voluntary
services, and clients whoe attended the Cornmarket Project's information/education sessions.
