A Civic Award for an Unsung Hero of Ann Liffey Low Threshold - Harm Reduction Services

David has supported the work of the Ana Liffey Drug Project since its inception and has been an active voluntary member of the Council of Management since September 1986. This involves giving up one or more days per month working with the management of the Project, giving them the benefit of his expertise, contacts and vision, as well as incredible moral support. For the last 26 years David has been unstinting in his support for the Ana Liffey Drug Project, and he has been the Chairperson of the Council of Management of the Ana Liffey Drug Project for the last number of years. The Ana Liffey Drug Project works in an unglamorous, often neglected and under-funded area of social deprivation, yet it is a forward-thinking, ambitious and relentlessly positive Project, and this ethos has been embodied in many ways by David's low-key yet positive support for, and contribution to, the development of the Project over the years. In a voluntary capacity, David continues to give his time, wisdom and expertise over to guiding the Ana Liffey Drug Project, ensuring that the needs of some of Dublin's most vulnerable people are met.
