€2 drink promos for students celebrating Leaving Cert results slammed

An alcohol charity has slammed Dublin venues which are offering €2 drink promotions to Leaving Cert students celebrating their results as "irresponsible".

As thousands of anxious students await their results, a number of popular pubs and nightclubs are seeking to lure in punters this Wednesday with the promise of cheap alcohol.

Shots and vodka with a mixer can be had for as low as €2 at some venues hosting "results nights" this week.

Asked about dangers of selling strong alcohol for less than the cost of a bottle of water some of those selling cheap drinks defended the policy.
