Working hard to improve support services for drug users in north east

Support services for drug users and recovering addicts are under developed across the north east, according to the head of Dundalk Drugs Action Forum.

But Mark Dearey, the former Green party senator, points to a series of improvements in Louth which have paved the way for greater access to services.

'The drugs issue is a highly complex one, and service provision in this area is equally as complicated, admitted Mark, who is chair of the Dundalk forum.

'The real danger we have now is that the provision of services in the region will peak before the drugs problem reaches a plateau.'
