A war of words has broken out between Lord Mayor Gerry Breen and Minister for Community, Equality and Gaeltacht Affairs, Pat Carey, in relation to a proposal to relocate drug treatment centres and homeless hostels.
The Lord Mayor got into hot water last week over controversial comments he made in relation to the relocation of drug centres and homeless hostels.
Pat Carey, who has ministerial responsibility for drugs, expressed outrage after the mayor suggested that treatment centres and hostels should be relocated to the suburbs.
“This sort of attitude is disappointing and runs totally contrary to the spirit of the National Drugs Strategy,” Minister Carey said.
