Depaul Ireland: Open Call for Theatre Groups or Artists to Participate

Life's No Picnic on the Streets 2011 at Electric Picnic & beyond

Depaul Ireland is a fresh and dynamic cross border charity which offers homeless and disadvantaged people the opportunity to fulfil their potential and move forward towards an independent and positive future. Depaul Ireland is part of Depaul International; a group of charities working to support homeless and marginalised people around the world.

Life's No Picnic on the Streets is a project that culminates in an artistic event at Electric Picnic in September 2011. The artist team will be comprised of both pre-selected artists and artists coming from this open call process. The theatre works will have evolved through a collaborative process between the theatre practitioner and our service users within a series of workshops developed by the practitioner. Most importantly, the aim is to engage with our service users in a creative process. Service users include women coming directly from prison, emergency and long-term homeless and those with chronic alcohol issues. Theatre artists will be given induction training and will have the practical support of Depaul staff and volunteers as well as an artistic director.  Artists will have a budget for production/materials and workshops.
