Alcohol abuse and misuse
Alcohol Misuse and Alcohol Abuse
The phrases Alcohol Misuse and Alcohol Abuse do not have a precise definition. Many people prefer the phrase Alcohol “Misuse” because it seems less judgmental than “Abuse”. Both phrases are used to indicate a pattern of drinking which falls into stage 3 or stage 4 on the “road”. In both of those stages the drinking is causing problems and, if the drinker continues with this style of drinking, he or she is said to be misusing alcohol.
