Dr Denis O'Driscoll - CNS Depressants: Benzodiazepines

Dr Denis O'Driscoll is currently Chief Pharmacist, HSE Addiction Services. Denis completed his graduate and post graduate training in the School of Pharmacy, Trinity College Dublin with a PhD in Pharmaceutics in 2000. In his role as Chief Pharmacist he supports Community Pharmacists involved in the Methadone Protocol Scheme and has an ongoing role as part of the care team providing treatment for service users. Denis has been involved in an advisory capacity in the Health Promotion Services and development of service user focused literature regarding medication. Denis represents pharmacy on a number of committees including the Treatment and Rehabilitation Group for the RDTF Tallaght Rehabilitation Project, the National Drug Rehabilitation Implementation Committee (NDRIC) and represents the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland (PSI) on the National Review of the Opioid Treatment Protocol. He is involved in the roll out of the National Pharmacy Based Needle Exchange Programme in conjunction with the Irish Pharmacy Union, Elton John AIDS Foundation and the Health Service Executive. Denis is also a tutor for the continuing pharmacy and medical education.
