Conference In Westmeath Focuses On Caring For Victims Of Trauma

The event, in Mullingar, is being hosted by the Midland Regional Drug and Alcohol Task Force and the HSE Community Alcohol and Drug Service.

It's bringing together community, voluntary and statutory organistions, to promote trauma-informed care for those suffering from addiction, mental health issue and those involved in crime.

Dr. Sharon Lambert is a lecturer in Applied Psychology in University College Cork.

She says a lot of research and grassroots work is being done in this area - but it's time for a national, government-driven approach in education, prisons and mental health facilities:
