Women seriously ill after consuming ‘contaminated cannabis’

Gardaí in Louth investigating if drug was mixed with a synthetic substance.

Two young women have been hospitalised in Co Louth after consuming what gardaí believe to be contaminated cannabis.

The women, who are in their 20s, are in a life threatening condition and are being treated in the intensive care unit of Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda.

The first woman took ill on Monday night of this week and the second became seriously ill in the early hours of yesterday morning.
