Poll: Should we have a minimum price for alcohol?

Doctors say minimum pricing for alcohol should be a priority in next week’s Budget as a way of preventing people from binge drinking.

If introduced, the measure would set a ‘floor’ beneath which drink products cannot be sold, stopping retailers from selling alcohol cheaply.

The Irish College of General Practitioners says it needs to be brought in because “the Irish people have had enough of the destructive force of alcohol in our society”.
