Conference: Parish Prevention of Substance Misuse

This conference is a collaboration between Crosscare Drug & Alcohol Programme (DAP) and the Irish Bishops Drugs Initiative (IBDI).
DAP is a resource for Parishes in the Dublin Diocese; IBDI is a resource for all other Dioceses.

The conference aims to:

  • To show positive and simple ways in which a parish can play a part in prevention and awareness of drug and alcohol misuse.
  • To highlight supports available to parishes within the Dublin Diocese in relation to education and training.
  • To share and inform others of models of best practice already working within parishes.

Mr David Conway, Volunteer with Mooncoin Parish Initiative for 5 years, member of the Regional Drug Task Force in Kilkenny and member of the National Executive of the IBDI
Ms Betty Murphy, Parish Pastoral Coordinator in Blessington, founder of the D Caf youth café
Ms Louise Cadwell, CYC
Mr Gerard Kelly, Training Coordinator and Addiction Counsellor, works with Parishes and Communities, member of the National Executive of the IBDI
Bishop Éamonn Walsh, Vice Chairperson, Irish Bishops Drugs Initiative

There is no fee to attend this conference and lunch is provided free of charge. It is essential to book early as places are limited.
