ICGP publishes update to opiate guidelines

The ICGP has published an update to its guidelines “Working with opiate users in community-based primary care”.

A number of updates have been made to the guidelines, published in 2008, in the form of an addendum following concerns raised about the guidelines.

The College’s Best Practice Guidelines Committee was recalled to discuss the concerns and have since produced updates to the guidelines in relation to drug doses.

The updated guidelines are available to ICGP members on its website, www.icgp.ie. A further print run of the guidelines will not take place as new national opiate guidelines are currently under review by a working group.
