Breath tests were carried out on 302 people and one person was arrested over the weekend in four mandatory alcohol testing checkpoints in Dublin.
More than 800 vehicles were checked by gardaí and along with the arrest ten road traffic offences were detected..
As part of Operation Artery, the emphasis of the checkpoints was to target drink driving through the use of mandatory alcohol testing along with detecting general road offences including use of seatbelts, vehicle lighting, tyre condition, driving licences, insurance, NCT and road tax.
Four separate one-hour checkpoints were carried out simultaneously between 11.30pm yesterday and 12.30am this morning in various locations around Dublin city including Drumcondra Road Upper, the Naas Road/N7, Ringsend Road/Pembroke St. and Conyngham Road.
Assistant Garda Commissioner John Twomey said: “An Garda Síochána are out in force every night and day, all around the country, targeting intoxicated driving and other key life saver road offences."
