High prices and advertising curbs help tame teen drinking

The modern-day Irish 15-year-old boy admits to getting drunk more than twice a year but they are behaving better than their older brother.

In 1998, the average number of occasions teenage boys got drunk every year was 3.69.

Today's teenage girls say they are drunk roughly twice a year. This contrasts with girls in the late 1990s who were drunk nearly 2.45 times.
