‘Death’ drug at €10 a pop

A dangerous new drug PMA or 'death' is on the market in Ireland, disguised as ecstasy tablets.

Dubliners are exposed to hundreds of different types of pills - all available for less than €10 a pop.

The synthetic hallucinogen PMA and PMMA is identical to so-called E tablets, which are MDMA.

In addition to PMA, a brand of ecstasy called 'double cherry' and 'cherry bombs' are growing in popularity here.

PMA is often passed off as ecstasy because it is similar in appearance, cost and effect. However, it is far more dangerous than ecstasy. The initial slow effect on the body sometimes causes users to take more because they think they have taken weak ecstasy.
