Call to drug agencies for research participants for mephedrone study

Waterford Institute of Technology and the Irish Needle exchange Forum are looking for participants to partake in a study that seeks to learn more about the drug mephedrone, and in particular, those who those who are (or have been) intravenous mephedrone users.

If your agency has come into contact with intravenous mephedrone users, the researchers, Dr. Marie Claire Van Hout and Tim Bingham, would appreciate your assistance in recruiting participants for a 30 minute interview. The researchers would also like to spend some time at a service meeting, and to engage with clients prior to conducting interviews. Participants will be paid €10.00 for their time.

The study has received ethical approval from Waterford Institute of Technology.

It is intended that the study will be carried out between Monday 23rd May 2011 – Thursday 29th July 2011. If your service is interested in participating in this study, or if you have any further questions, please contact Tim Bingham on 086 389 3530 or email tim@inef.ie
