Seeking Safety Advent calendar

The Seeking Safety Ireland Programme was established in November 2022 through the National Clinical Programme for Dual Diagnosis. Dual diagnosis is the coexistence of mental health problems and substance misuse problems.

The initial focus of the Seeking Safety Ireland Programme is on women with dual diagnosis who also have complex trauma histories. The aim of the Programme is to teach individuals, through psycho-educational classes, how to successfully seek safety in their world. The Programme runs across seven HSE Community Healthcare Organisations (CHOs) in partnership with HSE-funded agencies and supported by Seeking Safety peer support workers, with lived experience of dual diagnosis.

This festive season, the Seeking Safety Ireland Programme launched their advent calendar, designed to engage people who are in recovery from substance use and/or have issues with their mental health.

The Seeking Safety advent calendar is a daily alert of positive affirmations and safety tips over the Christmas period.

Via Facebook and Instagram @seekingsafetyireland, each morning at 8am a positive affirmation and action alongside some hints and tips from the Seeking Safety Ireland peer workers is shared.

The link also has a click through to emergency numbers over the Christmas period.

The advent calendar will run from 4th December 2023 until 1st January 2024.
