Evening Echo journalist Ann Murphy has won the Regional Newspaper Award at the Justice Media Awards for a series of articles on the issue of addiction, treatment and drug decriminalisation.
The Justice Media Awards, organised by the Law Society of Ireland, were announced at a ceremony in Dublin today.
Director General of the Law Society, Ken Murphy, described Ms Murphy “one of the best journalists in the country.” He also praised the Evening Echo for its consistent commitment to legal and justice journalism.
Ms Murphy, who won last year’s overall Justice Media Award, wrote a series of articles in August of last year focusing on drug and alcohol addiction and the various efforts being made to combat them either through enforcement and treatment.
