COCAINE NOW NUMBER TWO PROBLEM FOR PEOPLE SEEKING ADDICTION TREATMENT IN LIMERICK

Cocaine overtook cannabis as the number two substance of abuse for service users at Limerick's Saoirse Addiction Treatment Centre in 2018.

Sixty three clients presented at the Limerick Centre last year with a cocaine addiction, compared to 34 in 2017.

It's the reverse of what happened when the recession hit, when cannabis overtook cocaine abuse in Limerick.

Centre Manager Alan Galvin says people often forget the number one substance that causes addiction problems...
