About CROSSCARE Drug & Alcohol Programme (DAP)

DAP is a project of Crosscare the social care agency of the Dublin Diocese, covering Dublin city and county and covering some parts of Wicklow and Kildare.

Information, Support & Counselling:

  • Online Services: National drugs/alcohol website www.drugs.ie (Live helper-interactive service) service map of Ireland
  • Counselling/referral service: Free one-to-one counselling service for over 18’s who are affected by alcohol or drug issues, service is offered in Drumcondra and Blanchardstown
  • Phone support service: providing information and support to callers
  • www.counsellingdirectory.ie - development of new website which is a listing of accredited and practising counsellors operating within Ireland
  • Information & project request provision
  • Advocacy/Consultancy; capacity-building, committee memberships, task forces – local & regional

Training & Parish Outreach:

  • Working within diocesan structures to deliver workshops/ training courses on Don’t Lose the Head; a support manual aimed at parents/guardians on drug and alcohol issues affecting young people
  • Policy Development for School Substance Use Policy
  • Short Training Courses

DAP aim to help individuals, families and communities prevent and/or address problems arising drug drug and alcohol use.

  • To ensure that all service users who access our programme are afforded both quality of access and equality of opportunity irrespective of their denomination, demographic or socio-economic status.
  • To work towards greated integration with other related Crosscare services.
  • To work in a way which empowers others to play a central role in addressing and preventing drug problems.

We include in our scope the prevention of all drug-related harm, whether caused by illegal or legal drugs, including alcohol and medications.
